James Bond, but fourteen. When Alex Rider’s uncle is killed suddenly, he discovers that he has actually been being trained to be the ultimate spy his whole life. Over the course of the series, he gets sent off on all sorts of missions, armed with nothing more than fancy packs of gum and iPods and such. Just as silly and unbelievable as James Bond. Just as much fun. Alex is actually a fairly believable fourteen-year-old, even if the situation is total madness. The bad guys are crazy enough that they’re not too scary, because they’re nothing like real-life bad guys.
